TRIP DETAILS
Day 1: Transfer day, to the Ponente Riviera.
After meeting you, we take you to your hotel in the seaside town pictured to the right. There will be a short briefing about your holiday itineraries and time to settle before being free to enjoy an evening meal in one of the resorts many restaurants. Arrange to arrive at the airport in the afternoon or evening. View pictures of your Ponente Riviera resort village.
Day 2: Coastal mountain walking above the Gulf of Genova.
3 itineraries | 8kms, 12kms, 20km | Total of Ascents 80m, 480m & 750m | self-guided. This walking itinerary takes you high into the coastal Alps above the Gulf of Genova, for magnificent views over the Mediterranean coast. Following breakfast, you can choose to do the longer walks starting on foot from your hotel door or have a lift by 4x4 to a ridge above the resort village - saving yourself a 350m ascent. Heading north and 'up' from the resort village, you'll pass cultivated terraces before reaching the pine forests. Then on up to the peaks high above and along the coastal mountain ridges east towards the Provincial capital of Genova. The walk finishes with a walk down through old farming villages to the city limit suburbs and the bus or railway stations for the 10 minute trip back. - Moderately paced and strenuous, full day self-guided walking itinerary. Day 3: The Coastal Alps of the 'Finalese'.
2 itineraries | 8kms, 16kms | Total of Ascents 120m & 270m | 4x4 supported self-guided. Escorted 4x4 itinerary visiting Finalborgo, Varigotti & Noli via the coastal mountains. The start of our tour takes you inland into the chestnut forests along Liguria's coastal alps. We then take one of the forest trails along a river valley deep into the deciduous forests. Liguria has some of Europe's largest and most dense forests in which nature and wildlife still remain dominant in a landscape little touched by man. You are free to walk as little or as much through the forest before a grilled lunch over an open fire in a mountain refuge. The views from here over the surrounding coastal alps are simply outstanding. After lunch we visit the beautiful walled town of Finalborgo and take a walk up to an old Saracen tower overlooking the coast. Time for a leisurely stroll around the seaside town of Noli before heading back along one of Liguria's most beautiful and unspoilt stretches of coast. - Moderately paced, full day escorted walking & sightseeing itineraries. Day 4: Peak to Peak in the high Coastal Alps
2 itineraries | 9.5km, 15kms | Total of Ascents 350m & 400m | escorted to the 1st peak then self-guided. We take you up high into the coastal Alps by 4x4 from where you'll follow our self-guided walking itinerary to walk from peak to peak along one of the region's highest and most dramatic Alpine ridges overlooking the Mediterranean sea. Picnic lunch followed by the choice to wander around at leisure in the Alpine meadows or take the 3 hour descent back down on foot to the lower hills. In either case, a short trip back by 4x4 to your resort hotel. Evening B-B-Q dinner in the mountains above the resort village, overlooking the Gulf of Genova. - Moderately paced, full day escorted and self-guided walking itineraries. Lift to start, lift or walk back to your hotel. Our Comment: A true Alpine walk next to the Mediterranean Sea.

Day 5: From the clouds back down to the coast.
2 itineraries | 15kms, 17kms | Total of Ascents 400m & 475m | self-guided. After breakfast, we take you to the top of a pass in the Ligurian Alps that creates a watershed between the Mediterranean and the flat lands of the Po basin to the north. Up and all the way up to the high mountain plateaus above Genova for a most spectacular traverse of the high coastal Alps. From the peaks overlooking the sea, descend from 1000m along old mule tracks to the 'oldy worldy' thermal spring village of Acquasanta. Take a well earned drink in the cafe / bar of the impressive abbey from where you'll have the choice to catch a bus or train back to the coast and your resort village. - Moderately paced and strenuous, full day walking itineraries.Our Comment: A scenic walk with truly stunning coastal panoramas. Day 6: Beigua-Guardia Coastal Loop.
3 Itineraries | 8km, 14km & 24km | Total of Ascents 100m, 450m & 550m | self-guided. After breakfast, we take you along the coast and inland just a few kilometres to the start of today's walk. The walk begins by following a small river valley up to a village under the high coastal Alps. Up through the wild interior, passing a functioning monastery to the coastal ridges overlooking the sea. From here, enjoy spectacular panoramas of the Ligurian coast as you walk to a chapel for a well earned rest and picnic lunch. An afternoon descent down to the coast and the lively seaside town of Varazze where you'll have the choice to walk back along the coast or return by train to your hotel. In summer, swimming gear is recommended since there are plenty of opportunities to swim on the way back. - Moderately paced, full day escorted walking & sightseeing itineraries. Day 7: Transfer day, from the Ponente Riviera.
For those flying from Genoa, we take you to the airport at any time so arrange your return flights at whatever time during the day you prefer.

Hotels: You will be staying in the resort village pictured above, along the seafront at the elegant 3 star hotel pictured to the right. It is extremely well situated for much of the Riviera coast. You should be reasonably fit and fairly used to full day hiking trips.
