This is a really exciting way to get a 'taste' of the Ligurian Riviera - a full day offroading through the chestnut forests of the coastal Alps. We take you along some of the regions most spectacular stretches of coastline, just inland up in the mountains looking down over the mediterranean. This is a wonderful 'insider' tour that gives you a good first-glimpse of this most stunning area. For those who wish to, we can make an optional detour and climb the summit of the area's highest peak at just under 1500m (higher than Ben Nevis).

Escorted 4x4 itinerary visiting Finalborgo, Varigotti & Noli via the coastal mountains along one of Liguria's most beautiful and unspoilt stretches of coast. The start of our tour takes you inland into the chestnut forests along Liguria's coastal alps. Our first stop is a 'cappucino stop' inland from the sea port of Savona. We then take one of the forest trails along a river valley deep into the deciduous forests that are so typical of the region. Liguria today, has some of Europe's largest and most dense forests in which nature and wildlife still remain dominant in a landscape little touched by man. We continue up into the mountains and you are free to walk as little or as much through the forest before a grilled lunch over an open fire in a mountain refuge. The views from here over the surrounding coastal alps are simply outstanding. After lunch, we head down to the coast for a visit to the beautiful walled town of Finalborgo, a walk up to an old Saracen tower high above Varigotti, and a leisurely stroll around the seaside town of Noli before heading back.
Breakfast rendezvous at the railway station bar/cafe in Arenzanol, Spotorno or Finale. Morning tour of the coastal alps overlooking Savona, the Gulf of Genova and the Finalese coast. Grilled lunch in the mountains at a mountain refuge. Afternoon trip through the chestnut forests of the Ligurian Alps followed by a trip along the Finalese coastal road.
