Characteristic
accommodation, typically in betifully restored buildings with
gardens, typical of the area. These places are intended for 1
or 2 week holidays for those wanting to simply 'get away' and
relax or to explore a particular area of Italy. With this in
mind, whether the location is countryside, mountain, seaside
or lakeside, we have selected only those places where during
the summer months, you have the possibility to swim on your doorstep
- this may be a pool within the grounds, a beach just footsteps
away or the crystal clear waters of a mountain lake or river.
These are in most cases, accommodation only holidays. Places
to stay can be just about anywhere so you would almost certainly
need a car, whether your own or hired locally.
by-TRAIN: fly to the recommended airport and
take a train to the place you will be staying for your short
break. Airport transfer times are generally less than 1h30 by
train. Almost all FLY-TRAIN breaks can be enjoyed as a FLY-DRIVE
break, but in general convenient and cheaper by train.
SELF-DRIVE: fly to the recommended airport, hire
a car, and drive to the place you will be staying for your short
break. Airport transfer times are generally less than 45 minutes
by car.
WE-MEETU holidays: fly to the recommended airport
where we will meet you on your arrival at the nearest airport
or mainline railway station, and take you to your hotel either
by car or mini-bus.
All places to stay are selected according to the folloing
criteria: Comfortable journey times from the main regional
cities and airports - Countryside, seaside, island, lake and
mountain locations - Charming places to tay on a B&B or
s/c basis - Highly recommended places where we would personally
be happy to spend a whole week in, or longer. |
We are continually refining and
adding to our portfolio of Nice Places to stay in Italy,
so visit our site regularly to find somewhere just that little
bit special.
All our places to stay are presented with photos and descriptions
taken and selected by us
personally to give an impression as true to the reality as we
can.
All places are chosen by our team here in Italy for their combination
of price, quality, charm and
location. We work in partnership with family run hotels, guest
houses and self-catering accommodations.
This is NOT an unverified 'web portal' or online directory
- we select only those places which
we believe make excellent places to base a holiday for 1 week
or longer. |
Testimonials: "After getting a little lost in the hills
to the west of Genoa, we finally arrived at the Cascina which
was an idyllic spot (more so than I imagined), hidden away from
the winding road with wonderful views across the valley. Dinner
was fantastic, having the opportunity to eat delicious freshly
cooked dishes. It was a perfect base to drive around the countryside,
visiting Aqui Terme and a great local vineyard where you could
sample the wines and learn about their history from the owner.
A truly great place to escape too."
