4x4, off-road adventure holiday in the Coastal Alps of Liguria. TRIP DETAILS
Day 1: Plan to meet us on the Finalese coast where the holiday will start. The Finalese coast is just west along the coast from Savona. An evening in the refuge to meet other participants and to discuss the days ahead over dinner.
Day 2: TRAINING DAY 1 - ACLIMITISATION DAY After breakfast, we make a short tour through the local chestnut forests to a mountain view-point from where you can get your bearings and a good understanding of the topology and terrain. BBQ lunch at a mountain refuge. Afternoon spent negotiating a variety of single track forest routes. We plan to finish earlier today so that there is plenty of time to relax and have dinner before going out for a night drive.
Our Comment: Drive through dense forests to a mountain peak where you'll have amazing views of the Riviera coast by night.
Day 3: TRAINING DAY 2 - HIGH COASTAL MOUNTAIN RIDGES. Leaving our rustic lodge in the mountains, we make a tour along the high coastal ridges of the Ligurian Alps from Savona to Albenga.
Our Comment: A very impressive and unique route above the Mediterranean sea with both varied and challenging climbs.
Day 4: TRAINING DAY 3 - RETURN-TO-BASE ORIENTEERING CHALLENGE. Following a drive into the depths of a remote forest, everyone takes it in turns to lead the convoy back to base, or not - without the help of their GPS navigation systems.
Our Comment: With a compass, a map and the benefit of the previous couple of days driving, discover how easy it is to get 'lost'!! A great fun day with more than just a driving challenge.
Day 5: TRAINING DAY 4 - SINGLE TRACK FOREST TRAILS. Up early for perhaps the most challenging and demanding of the 4-day camp. We spend the day navigating a maze of single track routes up through the forests to the higher Alps. You'll spend much of the day rock-crawling and mud-plugging and expect average speeds below 10km/hr.
Our Comment: A great technical day where the temptation is to spend much of the day with your head out of the window watching the tyres grind their way over the rugged terrain. Definately a day for those who like to get their trucks dirty.
Day 6: DEPARTURE DAY. After breakfast, we say our farwells and head off on our own seperate ways.
Extend your stay: This holiday can be extended by as many days and nights as you wish, giving you more time to relax and explore the area better. Ask us for further details.
