The "Via Lattea" ("Milky Way"), one of the Alpine regions major skiing districts. The area has 400 km of ski-slopes, 80 km of which are covered with artificial snow to guarantee the best possible conditions, and 90 ski-lifts connecting the ski resorts of Sestriere, San Sicario, Cesana, Claviere and Monginevro.
Skiing in Sauze will give you the chance to enjoy fantastic and widely varying scenery, from wind-swept rocky terrain to plateaus covered with immaculately fresh snow.
From 2,500 metres up on Col Basset, one can descend the slopes through charming expanses of conifers down to the village at an altitude of 1,550 metres.
Recognition of the potential of these mountains came when Turin was chosen to host the the 20th Winter Olympic Games in 2006, the most sought after honour after the organisation of the Snowboard World Cup and the World Downhill Skiing Championships in 1997.
